OK. like, WTF ? right ? a camel. well, yes, that is a photo of a camel, and it is on this blog because i encountered one. sam spotted it as we were coming into the "town" of Coorabie (which consists of like 4 houses at a fork in the road). so i stopped the car, reversed and when the camel noticed we were taking an interest in it, he decided to come forward. only, he didn't just tentatively move towards us. he was without shyness and struted directly for the car. when he got within 3-4 feet, i decided, perhaps because of the sort of intent and insane look in his eye, or maybe it was his horrible breath. in any case, i decided to put the car in gear and start rolling slowly, if only to be out of reach of his rather large and slobbering mouth, that seemed to be watering after sam...this is when he started trotting. i shifted into second and he fucking starts galloping ! not like a half-assed little pony gallop, but full-on, dust-lifting gallop....i cannot describe the emotion of seeing this through my rearview mirror. it was hilarious, scary, exciting and just retarded all at the same time. ah, australia, what's next ?
