this is print 2 of 3, the best one. although i still think the black is not even enough and there are too many white spots. sam says i am too self-critical, but i just want a nice full and even black, that's all. i think i need smoother, more expensive lino. if anyone has any tips, please let me have them through the comments box, thanks !

Alexi.. you will see that a lot of lino-cuts have quite a lot of brocken up areas of the solid area, it gives it more richnes.
A solid area can in fact be less interesting, remember it's a CRAFT not 'design' so it can have that looser quality to it. Remember Catherine Bates print! Try looking at some examples maybe on the internet. I don't think you need a smoother lino.......good luck.

Another thought is to vary the thickness of the line, this gives it more of a lino cut look, and not an engraving, which is usually with thin lines.

Nice! Didn't know you were planning to play in that field...
I agree with some of what Anthony says, the white spots is what u fake in photoshop to had caracter to the print, here they are real.

PS i also think the blotchy black has more depth than a solid would, and i like anthony's comment about thicker lines. overall though, it looks stunning!

well, that's what i call innaresting commenting, thanks for all the input. however, being the stubborn jerk i am, i will strive to eliminate all of the white blotches so that my black may be a pure, robotic, clean and perfect black ! just like in illustrator and photoshop. heheh.
and Emily ! duuude ! nice to hear from ya. i will be on the road till next weekend or so, driving up to cairns, but when i get there i will try to get a minute to write back !

Continue Alexi tu iras loin.
